Where on Earth is Thomas Gassett?

I hate to admit it. But I miss Thomas Gassett a bit. All the blogs I frequent now are generally run by thoughtful or humorous people with an intelligent take on issues even when I don't agree with their perspective. But every once and awhile I miss being reviled by someone with no verbal impulse control. It's kind of like driving a great old muscle car. Most of the time you want to drive responsibly but every now and again you want to blow out the carburetor and stomp the pedal to the floor. Not that I would ever want him posting here but if from time to time one of you could call me names it would be nostalgic ;)

Geeezuss,
what a stupid peice of crap from a democrap libertard !!!

How's that?
Yeah, I too, kind of miss some of the old gangs nonsensical musings....I'm glad to see I am not alone.

If you are pining for irrational hate-filled ranting with varying low levels of intellectual content, just read yourself some youtube comments or FTSDT quotes for your fix of vitriolic crazy. And, if you want a step up, just go to Pharyngula and keep an eye open for trolls. They are usually of the highest caliber over there.

But, yeah, I sympathize with your predicament. He may have only been a rabid, reactionary wingnut, but he was your rabid, reactionary wingnut. Its like losing an old pet, who may have been flea-ridden and vicious, but who, once gone, makes you reminisce about the good ol' days that just happened to be tinged by its growls and incessant barking. Simpler times...

I hope I was taken seriously above.....

Yeah, I miss a lot of the crazies over there on the aol blogs. But, then again, I miss smashing my finger with a hammer as well.

I used to be a masochist, but, I had to give it up.......I was enjoying it too much ;-)

sorry, me again.

I meant to write.....

I hope I was NOT taken seriously on my first comment. I was merely playing the Gassett role, but you knew that :-)

No worries Mac Thanks for caring enough to call me names ;)

Seeker - I agree that the Pharyngula crowd is a bit more creative.

Thomas Gassett, Thomas Gassett
Takes the blunt but doesn't pass it
Loves to come and ruin our day
Couldn't you find another way?
You rail at people you don't know
And love to let your anger show
You just appear, as if a ghost
And then insult us, more than most
Your life is simple, like your brain
And so you give us all a pain
By telling us just what you think
As if with muddled mind from drink
When you show up, the good times end
I bet you do not have one friend
Your words are as those from a boy
Who has just lost his favorite toy
And because he cannot get his way
He stomps his feet and screams away
He spits and swears and attacks at will
With bloodlust and the urge to kill
He foams and whines and tells us all
That we are nothing; He is all.
He is as angry, scared, and sick
As any christian lunatic
But he is special, there's no doubt
I wish they wouldn't let him out.

Yeah, I miss him too... And brian small "b" and Rtia and all the rest of the loons. And William Hays too.

And Clif Culpen. Wonder where he's posting... I used to like his commentary a lot. Very insightful.

brian ( little b) lives a short distance from me...I almost sought him out, but rational thought overtook me.

Yes, Brian, Clif is a gem( pun intended), I miss his insight as well....and he was darned funny !

very convincing mac! i think you're channeling gassbag quite well, especially with the juvenile made up names that basically equate to calling someone a silly dookie head. the libertard was a nice touch, you make me giggle :)

brian did have eric posting on his blog, but i haven't seen him lately. even though i wanted to cyber slap that guy for being a dense little dinesh clone r-tard (or possibly dinesh himself?!*cue dramatic music* ) it was still nice to have a victim.

Yes I liked the 'libertard' a lot as well. Very nice touch.

On the other hand.....
At least you can get a word in edgewise on these current blogs without the word "turd" appearing more frequently than about once a month!

Pliny-the-in-Between said...

Point well taken Harvey;) I saw on Ste Brian's blog that you are a physician ( I will forever refuse to use the insurance term provider..;)).

If it isn't giving away too much - what specialty?

Harvey said...

Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, & Throat). I am professor of same at a medical school in the midwest.

Otolaryngology

A progressive ENT!

I suppose it's no more strange than a liberal trauma surgeon...

How about posting a short piece on your thoughts on a national health system?

It would be interesting if Gassett graced one of the D'Souza offshoot blogs (angry and venting, but still interesting).
His variety of conservative was hard to pinpoint. I've looked at some of his comments on other blogs. He didn't seem to particularly side with Christians, other than as strange bedfellows against the liberal infestation.
He also didn't strike me as someone protecting a large pile of loot, although "appearances" on the net can be deceptive.
My personal hunch is that his motivation was misdirected patriotism coupled with anger. I would not be at all surprised if he was a Viet Vet. My SO often sounds like a carbon copy of Gassett. Over the years I have come to realize that this anger, which poses as outwardly directed, only does so to avoid being pointed in the other direction. Humans can rationalize (or fabricate) a lot when it comes to self-deception.
Anger is the armor we use to cover fear. Fear is what leads to irrational behavior and the requirement for mystical solutions. Fear can be dealt with, one the tin plating is stripped away. But, that's often the trickiest part.
