Natural Election 2012: A New National Convention Theme Song

With profound apologies to the late, great John Lennon, though, I can't help but imagine he would have approved...
-------------------------------------------

Lies, lies, lies,
lies, lies, lies,
lies, lies, lies,
There's nothing you can say that must be true
Nothing you can do that can’t be spun
Nothing you can say more important than how you play the game
It's sleazy.

There's no accusation you can make that won’t adhere.
No expert’s knowledge you cannot smear
Nothing to stop you from pandering to a mighty and wealthy few - It's sleazy.

All you need are lies,
All you need are lies,
All you need are lies, lies,
Lies are all you need.

Lies, lies, lies,
lies, lies, lies,
lies, lies, lies,
All you need are lies,
All you need are lies,
All you need are lies, lies,
Lies are all you need.

There's no one who cares about what is known.
People don’t want truth they just want to be shown.
Nowhere we can hide from democracy's downward slide.
It's Sleazy.

All you need are lies,
All you need are lies,
All you need are lies, lies,
Lies are all you need.

All you need are lies, (all together now)
All you need are lies, (everybody)
All you need are lies, lies,
Lies are all you need.

Yes, I would IMAGINE JL would have approved.

Your lyrics are right on the money...

Three tangents:
1. Did you know that Zappa's "OH NO" was his reply to "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE"?

2. Are you familiar with Zappa's "THE REPUBLICAN LIE"? It's from the late 80's but sounds like it was written YESTERDAY AND TODAY. (Beatles trivia tangent (tangent within a tangent))

3. I've forgotten the other tangent.

Duh... "WHEN THE LIE'S SO BIG". Not "THE REPUBLICAN LIE"

sorry.

Ah a real Zappa fan at last!

I've heard the second song and it's still relevant I agree. Frank was a smart guy. I have a copy of the transcript to his Congressional testimony around here someplace. The little remembered Al and Tipper Gore censoring episode.

Another still relevant song is Steppenwolf's 'Monster'.
